Everything is better with a hood. This is a personal preference, for my own closet, at least. Maybe if I had any kind of sewing ability I would have thought to add a hood to all my favorite tops. But instead Celtek came up with a better idea, the Charity. It is an acrylic knit scarf, facemask and hood all in one. Just add to any shirt and you have an “insta-hood.”
Not only is it fashionable, but the Celtek Charity hood is functional as well—it was designed to be a facemask too. It’s actually quite warm for those chilly days on the slopes. It is a nice layer around my neck and chin without being
too bulky. It also protects the back of your neck, which is exposed below your helmet when you don’t have a hood on. And like all Celtek pieces, it has UV protection.
Celtek worked with their riders and friends to come up with this unique concept. The idea was to have apparel to wear around town and on the mountain, plus a fashionable hood that can seamlessly transition into something perfect to wear around town. And let’s be honest, in the morning when I am rushing out the door to get first chair, I am not usually thinking about where I will be when the lifts stop spinning. So I never remember to bring a change of clothes for après. And the added bonus of a hood is that it covers up my amazing “helmet hair” after a long day of riding.

Design: The Charity hangs nicely around your neck, with the option to pull up the hood when it gets chilly out there. I would like it to be wider in the shoulders, so it would lay a little flatter when I have it under my jacket. + .25
Durability: So far the Charity is holding up to the wear and tear that I put all my snowboarding gear through. It has been crammed at the bottom of my boot bag, yet no snags, tears or wrinkles. +1
Performance: Celtek makes all theirs pieces with form and function in mind. The Charity is warm, with UV protection and breathable as a facemask. +1
Comfort: I was worried it would be itchy for a face mask, but it’s not. The Charity is soft and snuggly. +1
