Looking to find that bag that works for everything? Well, no such thing actually exists, but the Patagonia Lightweight Travel Tote comes darn close. With the options of being either a tote or a backpack this bag can fit the kitchen sink and then some. The backpack straps are a great option when you need to be more hands free like when walking dogs or carrying tea, coffee or other bags. If you don’t want it to be a backpack you can tuck the straps away and use it as an over the shoulder tote bag. The flexibility of this makes it a dream.
I have taken the Patagonia Lightweight Travel Tote to work just about every day for the past year. It’s great for walking my dog and as an extra bag at the grocery store. It’s light and allows for maximum storage of everything with out excess bag weight. The material is super tough and durable. And if you are traveling it can pack up into its own pocket for small storage.
4.4 (out of 5)
Style: This is a practical bag. It is not super flashy other than its lightweight design. But it does what it is meant to do by getting the job done carrying a lot of stuff either as a tote or a backpack. +.8
Design: Lightweight materials make it easy to stuff to the gills without getting too heavy. It also comes in lots of different color options each season. +1
Durability: Extremely lightweight double-ripstop fabric features excellent tear resistance as well as being water repellant. I have spilled hot tea on the bag and everything inside had remained dry and carried strange shaped objects while being packed and no tears yet! +1
Performance: My biggest complaint is sometimes it can become a black hole where there is potential to lose small items, especially due to the loose structure of the material. But if you use the side pockets and two-zippered pockets accordingly the days of losing small items in bags are over. +.7
Comfort: There is no structure to this bag, so if you are not careful with item placement something might poke you. But if you carefully place everything inside you should be safe. +.9
